New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss multiple games with an oblique injury according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

Carr was injured in the fourth quarter of the Saints’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. He took a hit on a fourth-down pass that fell incomplete and did not return for the team’s final offensive possession.

Carr has completed 70.3% of his passes for New Orleans (2-3) so far this season, the second-best mark of his career. He has thrown for eight touchdowns and four interceptions through five weeks, and is ranked 10th in the NFL with a 63.6 quarterback rating.

The Saints have struggled after a hot start to the season, however. After winning their first two games, New Orleans has lost three in a row. The offense has cooled off as well. The Saints scored 91 points in the first two weeks of the season but only 67 over the last three.

“Not good,” Carr said when asked how he was feeling after the Monday loss.

In Carr’s absence, New Orleans will turn to Jake Haener, who was selected by the team with a fourth-round pick in 2023.

Haener was suspended for the first six games of last season after failing a performance-enhancing drug test. He appeared in relief of Carr against Kansas City, completing only 2 of 7 passes for 17 yards. He’s thrown only one other career pass, which was also incomplete.

The Saints’ next two games are against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this upcoming Sunday, and the Denver Broncos the following Thursday.
