The New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a conditional draft pick, sources told the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The trade will reunite Adams and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who played together on the Green Bay Packers from 2014-2021. Las Vegas will receive a third-round pick that can escalate to a second-rounder if Adams meets certain performance benchmarks.
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown through three games so far this season. He has not played since Sept. 22 due to a hamstring injury.
The Jets hope Adams will be able to revive a passing offense that’s been middling for much of the season. New York is averaging only 217.2 passing yards per game, 16th in the NFL. Rodgers, meanwhile, has not thrown for 300 yards since joining New York.
The Jets are 2-4 and in third place in the AFC East after losing to the Buffalo Bills on Monday. The Adams trade is their second major move of the season after they fired head coach Robert Saleh on Oct. 8.
Adams, 31, was a second-round pick of the Packers in 2014. He spent nine seasons with Green Bay before he was traded to the Raiders in March 2022. Last season, Adams caught 103 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.
In 153 career games, Adams has 890 receptions for 10,990 yards and 96 touchdowns.
