Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani suffers apparent shoulder injury during Game 2 of the World Series

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani suffered an apparent left shoulder injury in the seventh inning against the New York Yankees.

Ohtani slid hard into second base on a steal attempt in the bottom of the seventh of Game 2 of the World Series and remained down before Los Angeles training staff came out to help him off the field.

He was taken to the locker room for evaluation with the Dodgers leading 4-1.

Ohtani is considered the best player in baseball. The NL MVP favorite hit .310 with 54 home runs, 130 RBI and 59 stolen bases this year. He is the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in one season.

In Game 1 — a dramatic walk-off grand slam win for the Dodgers in extra innings — Ohtani hit a double and scored a run.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates.
